Who Qualifies for Our Program?

Chollas View Head Start is a free, federally funded program designed to serve families in our community. Review the eligibility guidelines below to see if your family may qualify.

Income Guidelines

Eligibility is primarily based on family income, following the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Families receiving certain types of public assistance are also automatically eligible.

  • Income at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Families receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
  • Families receiving SSI (Supplemental Security Income)
  • Families experiencing homelessness or foster care

Residency Requirements

To serve our local community, families must reside within our service area.

  • Primary service area: Chollas View neighborhood, San Diego
  • Also serving eligible families throughout San Diego County

Age Requirements

Our program is designed for preschool-age children during their critical early development years.

  • Children ages 3 to 5 years old by September 1st of the program year
  • At least 10% of enrollment slots are available for children with disabilities

Documentation Needed

To complete your application, please be prepared to provide the following documents:

  • Proof of income (pay stubs, tax return, or benefits letter)
  • Child's birth certificate or passport
  • Proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement)
  • Immunization records and recent physical exam
